Tank truck unable to stop crashes into tram in China
On May 19, at an intersection in Huangshi, Hubei Province, a tanker truck collided with a moving tram while making a turn, also crashing into a white sedan that was preparing to go straight through the intersection. At the moment of impact, a woman coordinating traffic at the intersection was seen sprinting to safety.
A representative from the Huangshi Traffic Police Department stated that two passengers on the tram sustained minor scrapes but were not seriously injured. They left the scene on their own after receiving on-site assistance. No fatalities were reported.
Surveillance footage shows that the tanker truck did not slow down or take evasive action as it approached the intersection, leading to the collision. Authorities suspect the driver may have been fatigued or distracted.
The cause of the accident is still under further investigation.
