Brazen thief caught on camera stealing package containing cat litter off London homeowner's doorstep

A shaken resident has shared footage captured by their doorbell camera of a thief stealing packages off the doorstep of their Walworth home in broad daylight.

The recording shows the criminal pushing a supermarket trolley up the homeowner's path before making off with the packages that are clearly labelled with the word "pets".

The homeowner told Newsflare that the packages fortunately did not contain anything valuable, only a cat litter and a harness.

They also explained the impact this incident has had on their neighbourhood: "My partner and I had only recently moved into our new flat on Aylesbury Road in Walworth when this happened. We’ve lived in the area for two years and always felt safe, which made this incident all the more unexpected.

"While we were both at work, we received a notification from our Ring door camera. When we checked the live feed, we saw a man approach our property with a shopping trolley, walk through the gate onto our porch, and help himself to two parcels that had just been delivered. Without rushing or looking concerned, he placed the boxes in his trolley and walked off as if it were completely normal.

"We reported it to the police within minutes — thankfully, the footage meant we caught it in real time rather than hours later. The stolen items turned out to be a cat harness and litter, which sparked a mix of frustration and disbelief.

"We decided to share the footage online to warn others in the area. To our surprise, it went viral — gaining more than 300,000 views on Reddit within days. Not long after, another local resident got in touch to say she’d had flowers stolen from her doorstep that same afternoon. That’s when we realised this probably wasn’t a one-off.

"Since then, we’ve been in touch with neighbours up and down the street. It’s actually brought the community closer together — people have been checking in with each other, sharing stories, and we’re now working on a collective plan to deter future thefts.

"While the video itself is just 35 seconds long, it’s had a big impact — not just online, but on the street where it happened."
