An Israeli jet struck a civilian vehicle at the al-Saraya Junction, one of the busiest intersections in central Gaza City on Thursday, killing at least 11 Palestinians and injuring dozens of others. The strike occurred on Thursday afternoon right next to the office of reporters from the China Global Television Network (CGTN). Video footage from the scene showed the horrifying aftermath of the attack, with desperate crowds of people trying to tend to those injured before medical teams arrived. Some victims were seen being carried to ambulances as shocked onlookers gathered. According to members of the CGTN team, some of those wounded have been left in a critical condition following the strike. Witnesses recounted the terrifying moments of the attack which came without warning and detailed the distressing scenes which unfolded after the bombing. Others expressed a desperate plea for the war to end, with Wednesday having marked the 600th day since the conflict between Israel and Hamas erupted in October 2023. Hamas said in a press statement that the Israeli airstrike targeted several of its members who were confronting a group of thieves, resulting in the deaths of several police officers and passersby. Israel's renewed offensive on Gaza, which began on March 18, has so far killed 3,986 Palestinians and injured 11,451 others, Gaza's health authorities said on Thursday.
