Türkiye: Battle tank submerged in Türkiye's Saros Bay to boost diving tourism
-EDIRNE, TÜRKİYE - JUNE 3, 2025: As part of efforts to develop diving tourism, a military tank was deliberately sunk in northwestern Türkiye, adding it to the Underwater History Museum as a new attraction for visitors and divers. An M62 T battle tank (measuring 8.5 meters in length and weighing 45 tonnes) was submerged in Saros Bay located in Turkish province of Edirne on Tuesday, June 3. The initiative seeks to boost underwater tourism while also encouraging the development of artificial reefs. Over the years, numerous statues and an Airbus A330 plane have been added to the bay’s underwater attractions.
