Ferry passengers looked on anxiously when they spotted the captain steering the wheel - with his feet.

Footage shows the pilot sitting on a wooden platform above the helm while manoeuvring the vessel with his toes in Puerto Princesa, the Philippines.

He was talking to the other crew members and travellers while confidently navigating the waters with ease on April 30.

Arvil Conde said: ‘We were a team from the Fisheries Management Division under the City Agriculturist Office of Puerto Princesa.

‘We were headed to a village to assess the area in preparation for its establishment as a Marine Protected Area.

'For some reason or perhaps because he's been operating the boat for so long, he seems used to steering it with his feet.

‘Additionally, while I was filming him, he was also talking to our supervisor, perhaps that's why he used his feet to steer the wheel.'
