This is the heartwarming moment a father became emotional when his daughter made a surprise homecoming from teaching abroad.

Charlie Retuerto, 65, had been told he was only picking up some parcels from his daughter, who works in Arizona.

Footage shows Charlie waiting by the arrivals area when Charmie suddenly appeared at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, the Philippines.

Charlie did a double-take, unable to believe his eyes, before welling up with tears.

Cynthia, his other daughter, said: ‘My sister works as a special education teacher in Arizona, USA.

‘My father didn't expect her to come home this year because she had already visited last year.'

The parent, who works as a village chief in Tacloban City, was red-faced and sobbing as his daughter approached.

Cynthia added: ‘We are a very close family, and we love spending time together.'

The family would be going on a trip together to the holiday destination of Boracay to celebrate.
