-MEDINA, SAUDI ARABIA - JUNE 13, 2025: Muslim pilgrims offered prayers at Al-Masjid al-Nabawi, or Prophet's Mosque, in Medina, Saudi Arabia on Friday, June 13. Pilgrims made appointments through "Nusuk" phone app before they performed prayers at Ravza-i Mutahhara, paid respects as they said prayers at Jannat al-Baqi cemetery. Jannat al-Baqi is the resting place of numerous prominent Islamic figures, including members of the Prophet Muhammad’s family, the third Caliph Uthman, and approximately 10,000 companions (Sahaba). The Hajj pilgrimage is the fifth pillar of the Islamic faith, a ritual that must be performed by all Muslims, if financially viable, at least once in their lives. The Hajj includes a number of rituals aimed at illustrating the fundamental concepts of Islam and commemorating the Prophet Abraham and his family's trials.
