...STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - JUNE 14, 2025: Hundreds of demonstrators, including climate activist Greta Thunberg, marched to the Swedish Parliament demanding an end to Israel’s genocide against Palestinians, on Saturday, June 14. The demonstrators called for an immediate halt to Israel’s attacks, carrying banners that read “Free Palestine, Free Gaza,” “Stop the Genocide,” and “Boycott Israel.” Chanting slogans such as “Children Are Being Killed in Gaza” and “Freedom for Palestine,” they also emphasized the United States’ complicity in Israel’s war crimes. Speaking to, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg said the protest was part of a national solidarity movement with Palestine. The Swedish activist said that they demand a ceasefire to end the ongoing blockade and genocide in Gaza and an end to the occupation. She emphasized the necessity of defending justice and decolonization not only in words, but in practice. She recalled that protests have been held in Stockholm for nearly two years and said that they will continue supporting Palestine until we prove there is no alternative to peace. According to UN agencies, Israel has blocked the entry of humanitarian, food, and medical supplies into the Strip since March 2, leading to widespread famine and the near-collapse of the health care system. The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 55,300 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave. Writing by Ayse Elif Erdis
