VARIOUS OF PROTESTERS CARRYING BANNERS AND STANDING IN SILENCE DURING PROTEST MILAN, ITALY - JUNE 17: For the second consecutive afternoon, several dozen Pro Palestine activists gathered in Milan's Piazza Duomo for a flash mob in support of the people of Gaza on Tuesday (June 17). The protesters carried Palestinian flags and banners reading phrases and poems in Arabic, Italian and English, stood in front of the cathedral arousing the curiosity of passersby. The protest is expected to continue throughout the week. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing over 55,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
