Alberic, Spain - June 16, 2025 A dog that escaped from home was rescued by the Guardia Civil after falling into an irrigation canal between Castelló and Alberic. The incident occurred on the CV-542 road, surrounded by fields. At 10:55 a.m., a passerby heard the dog’s desperate barks coming from the canal. The animal was struggling, swimming against the current in a 45-meter underground section, crying for help. Guardia Civil officers from Alberic quickly responded. The sergeant bravely entered the canal to reach the distressed dog, successfully pulling it to safety. After the rescue, the dog was taken to a nearby veterinarian. Its microchip was scanned, identifying its owner, a resident of Alzira. The dog was joyfully reunited with its family. The Guardia Civil’s swift action saved the dog’s life, earning praise from the community for their dedication to protecting all lives, human and animal alike.
