Italy: Pompeii remains major draw for visitors in Italy
POMPEII, CAMPANIA, ITALY - JUNE 18, 2025: The ancient Roman city of Pompeii in Italy continues to attract millions of visitors each year, drawing tourists from around the world in both summer and winter seasons. Pompeii, famously buried under volcanic ash following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, remains a significant destination for those interested in ancient Roman history and archaeology. The ancient city is located in what is now the Campania region of Italy, southeast of Naples. The Director General of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, Gabriel Zuchtriegel, conducted a special tour on Wednesday, June 18, guiding visitors through the Insula Meridionalis area of the ancient city. The tour provided a deeper look into one of the world’s most renowned archaeological sites, highlighting ongoing preservation efforts and historical significance.
