This is the shocking moment a pet cat leapt into a washing machine as its owner did the laundry.

CCTV footage shows Mei Boyon draining water from a white bath towel when his curious orange feline suddenly jumped into the active device in Cavite, the Philippines.

Upon seeing this, the man rushed over to rescue the kitten from the spinning appliance on June 15.

However, the seemingly frightened cat quickly hopped out, soaking wet with bubbles and soap all over its fur.

The animal reportedly did not sustain any injuries from the incident.

Mei's wife, Jonna Rose Boyon, said: 'One of our cats, who really loves climbing onto the washing machine, was trying to reach the pet birds at the time, but it accidentally fell inside.

'My husband forgot to put the lid back on the washer, so when our cat jumped, it went straight in.'
