TIGHT SHOT OF BURNED HOME MASAFAR YATTA, WEST BANK, PALESTINE - JUNE 25,: A Palestinian family narrowly escaped death after extremist Israeli settlers set fire to their home in the village of Susiya, south of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank, early Wednesday, June 25. Nasser Nawaj’ah, a Palestinian resident, told Anadolu that a group of settlers attacked his home at 1:00 AM (GMT+3), setting it ablaze. The fire destroyed the entire structure, including all furniture and belongings. Nawaj’ah stated that he, his wife, and their seven children were inside the house at the time and narrowly escaped with their lives. He reported seeing the attackers flee before attempting to put out the flames. Nasr Nawaj’ah, an anti-settlement activist, noted a sharp rise in settler attacks across the West Bank, particularly in the south, as part of efforts to push Palestinians off their land. Under the 1995 Oslo II Accord, the West Bank is divided into Areas A (Palestinian-administered), B (joint control), and C (Israeli-controlled). He argued that the violence in Area C, which is under full Israeli control, is not just carried out by settlers but is state-backed, making Palestinian homes unsafe. Meanwhile, alongside Israel’s military offensive in Gaza, violence in the West Bank has surged, with Palestinian officials reporting at least 982 deaths and 7,000 injuries since last October.
