This is the dramatic moment helicopter crews battled wildfires raging across parts of Turkey.

The forest fire reportedly broke out on Wednesday, June 25, in the Bozkoy neighbourhood of the Aliaga district in Izmir.

Local media said at least eleven firefighting planes, 13 helicopters, 32 water trucks, 10 water supply vehicles, and five bulldozers were deployed to the scene.

Footage captured from the aircraft shows massive flames and thick smoke engulfing the fields below.

Fanned by strong winds, the fire spread rapidly towards the Ilipinar neighbourhood in the Foca district, prompting the evacuation of several homes in the area as a precaution.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
