A family were left awestruck during a boat trip - when a pod of dolphins put on an aerial display just yards from them.

Video captured by onlookers shows the moment the athletic mammals started jumping out of the sea.

At one point, four dolphins jump out at once.

Rachel Bartle was on an excursion off Thornwick Bay, East Yorkshire, on Saturday with her son Jack, 14, when he took the amazing video.

Despite only lasting half-an-hour, the family was treated to a pod of dolphins giving them a show.

Mum Rachel said the excursion, operated by North Landings Boat Tours and Fishing Trips, had left all of them, including husband James, daughter Lacey, 16, and granddad Bob Tate, 78, with ‘magical memories'.

Rachel said: "Jack has wanted to go on the boat for a while but due to poor weather, lack of time, etc, he hasn't had the chance."

"Last weekend we made it in time for the very last boat."

Jack, his dad, and grandad had an amazing experience.

"They were hopeful to see a dolphin, but actually were treated to much more. "

"We made some magical memories and managed to capture some of the experience on camera."
