Workers paint blue sky and clouds onto 200-metre-tall power plant cooling chimney in China
On June 23, in Meizhou, Guangdong, workers painted a sky-blue background with white clouds on a 200-metre-tall "giant chimney."
These "giant chimneys" are actually called cooling towers. Far from being sources of pollution, they are key components for the efficient operation and environmental performance of power plants.
As large industrial structures, cooling towers typically have a plain appearance that clashes with the surrounding environment. Artistic painting—featuring blue skies, natural scenery, abstract patterns, and more—can transform them into visual highlights, softening their industrial look and creating better harmony with the landscape.
