Hundreds of people gathered near the Wilmerdorfer Strasse metro station to protest Israel's attacks on Gaza and show their support for Palestine. They carried Palestinian flags and banners reading “Stop starving Gaza to death,” “Israel is a war criminal,” and “Zionism is the cancer of the world.” During the protest, slogans were chanted against Israel and the German government, which supplies weapons to Israel. After walking approximately 600 meters, the police stopped the march saying a crime had been committed. The police then allowed the protesters to demonstrate for one hour at the intersection of Kant and Wieland streets. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a genocidal war on Gaza, killing more than 57,300 Palestinians, most of them women and children, since October 2023. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
