NEW YORK, US - JULY 6, 2025: Pro-Palestine protesters in New York placed children's shoes outside St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Sunday, July 6, symbolizing the young victims of Israeli attacks in Gaza and calling for an end to the violence. Carrying “Free Palestine” banners, the protesters placed children’s shoes before the church door, honoring Palestinian children killed by US‑supplied weaponry. "Every single pair of shoes that you see down there, symbolizes about 500 children," said one female protester, explaining that it is difficult to grasp the reality of nearly 15,000 children in Gaza who have been killed or severely injured. “I'm here with my friends because our hearts are breaking. Our hearts are breaking by what's happening in the Middle East with American weapons and American money. We're here to support the Palestinians and stop the bombing," said another protester. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, Israel has pursued a genocidal war on Gaza, killing more than 57,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children, since October 2023. The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants last November for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave. Reporting by Selcuk Acar / Writing by Aleyna Cil
