France: Luxury €100 Million Superyacht Erupts In Flames At Port Of Saint-Tropez
Saint-Tropez, France - July 10, 2025 Flames broke out on the 41.25-metre superyacht Sea Lady II on Thursday evening while docked in the Port de Saint-Tropez. Video filmed by Gary Sturrock captured the dramatic fire. He said: “Oh my goodness! We just witnessed a luxury yacht Sea Lady II on fire in Port of Saint-Tropez.” Smoke was first reported shortly after 20:00. The blaze started at the bow and spread to the lower decks of the vessel, previously named D'Angleterre II. Two crew members, aged 24 and 35, were rescued and are reportedly suffering from smoke inhalation. By midnight, firefighters had brought the worst of the fire under control. However, crews faced difficulties boarding the vessel. A fire department spokesperson said nearby yachts were moved and anti-pollution barriers were placed in the water. Built in 1986 by W.A. Souter & Sons, Sea Lady II was designed by Don Shead Yacht Design with interiors by Frédéric Mechiche. The yacht accommodates up to 10 guests in five staterooms. It remains unclear if anyone else was aboard when the fire started. The superyacht features an aluminium hull and superstructure and runs on twin Caterpillar engines, with a cruising speed of 12 knots and a top speed of 16 knots.
