A flood-stricken resident was rescued after being trapped by rising waters during a severe deluge in Texas.

The swift-water rescue operation began when a motorist became trapped inside an SUV near a low-water crossing bridge on the 1000 block of Indian Trail in McGregor.

Footage shows emergency responders wading through floodwaters to assist the stranded motorist inside a silver vehicle on July 13.

After an initial attempt to reach the individual with a rope, the heroic saviours were able to bring the driver to safety using a boat.

Heavy rainfall and powerful winds swept through Central Texas on Sunday, forcing rescue teams to temporarily suspend search efforts for victims of the devastating deluges that struck the region just over a week earlier.

Officials confirmed that more than 100 people were killed in the massive flooding that battered the region, including 28 campers who went missing at Camp Mystic in Kerr County.
