In a hands-on experiment at Shanna’s home, daughter-in-law Miriam Sanchez put TikTok’s viral toilet paper shoe-cleaning hack to the test using it on her white Vans with surprising results.

Without snapping a “before” photo, Miriam soaked toilet paper in water and wrapped her canvas shoes like mummies. The goal: let the paper dry and draw out stains. Originally placed in the sun, the shoes were moved under a covered patio when rain hit, then left for several days to fully dry.
Once the paper hardened, Miriam peeled it off (though a scrub brush would’ve made the process easier). The shoes showed noticeable improvement, and now the duo plans to test the method on colored shoes and other materials.

My daughter in law decided to try the toilet paper hack to clean her white vans. We tried this at my home. She put toilet paper in a bowl of water then covered her shoes with the wet toilet paper. We sat them outside in the sun to dry but it started raining so we put them under the covered patio and left them for a few days to allow the toilet paper to dry completely. After the toilet paper was completely dried we brought them inside and she peeled the toilet paper off. ( would be easier to get the toilet paper off if we had grabbed a scrub brush). We are going to try and see if it works on colored shoes as well or other material besides canvas. We like to experiment see if things like this really work or if they are a complete flop
