Los Angeles, United States - July 24, 2025 07/23/2025 10:30 pm GMT-0700 DOWTOWN LOS ANGELES, CA Immigration protestors clashed with Los Angeles Police Department officers in front of the federal Metropolitan Detention Center on Alameda Street late Wednesday evening. The disturbance began as officers responded to the area for reports of an assault within the group of protestors. Although initial reports suggested this, it is currently unconfirmed. At one point, a federal agent guarding the detention center was assaulted, leading to an escalation. LAPD subsequently requested backup. A large contingent of LAPD personnel responded and established two skirmish lines on Alameda Street between Aliso and Temple streets. Protestors and officers clashed during several encounters. One person was reported to have been taken into custody. No further details were immediately available.
