VARIOUS OF ACTIVISTS CHANTING SLOGANS, BANGING EMPTY POTS, HOLDING BANNERS TO PROTEST ISRAELI ASSULTS ON GAZA / ISRAELI POLICE INTERVENING IN PROTESTHAIFA - JULY 24, 2025: Israeli police detained around 20 protesters in Haifa on Thursday, JULY 24, during a demonstration denouncing Israel's starvation policy and genocide in the Gaza Strip. The demonstrators, mostly political and human rights activists, carried banners calling for an end to the Israeli attacks and the lifting of the blockade on Gaza. In a symbolic act drawing attention to the deepening humanitarian crisis, participants banged empty pots and kitchen utensils to highlight the growing famine in the besieged enclave due to the deliberate blockade of aid by Israel. The protest was disrupted within minutes, as Israeli police declared the gathering “illegal” and forcibly dispersed the crowd. Witnesses said some demonstrators were physically assaulted during the crackdown, and around 20 individuals were taken into custody. Israel has killed more than 59,500 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in Gaza since October 2023. The genocidal war has devastated the enclave, collapsed the health system, and led to severe food shortages. According to the Health Ministry in Gaza, at least 113 Palestinians, most of them children, have died of starvation and malnutrition since October 2023. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
