CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, USA - JULY 24, 2025: Demonstrators gathered outside the Israeli Consulate in Chicago, US, on Thursday (July 24), banging pots and pans as part of the Global Fast for Gaza protest, calling for urgent international action to alleviate hunger and suffering in the Palestinian territories.

Participants in the demonstration said the noise-making was meant to draw attention to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where months of conflict have led to widespread food insecurity and displacement.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, over 1,083 people have been killed and more than 7,275 wounded while attempting to access food at aid distribution points since the war began.

Israel has killed more than 59,500 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, collapsed the health system, and led to severe food shortages.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
