Storyline: Floods triggered by torrential rain swept away vehicles in a residential area in Miyun in northern suburb of Beijing, on Monday morning. Footage captured at the site showed multiple cars submerged in rapidly rising water, with flood levels reaching the roofs of some vehicles. Since Saturday, heavy rainfall in Miyun has caused mountain floods and mudslides, severely affecting local villages. The city's meteorological bureau issued an orange rainstorm warning, the second-highest in China's four-tier alert system, at 09:15 on Monday, forecasting widespread heavy rain through 10:00 Tuesday. Rainfall is expected to exceed 100 mm over six hours across several districts, including Miyun, with some areas potentially receiving more than 250 mm. Over 3,000 residents were evacuated from Miyun District on Sunday following heavy downpours, local authorities said. Residents have been advised to avoid mountainous areas due to elevated risks of landslides and to stay clear of low-lying areas at risk of flooding.
