The extreme heat, combined with prolonged power outages, has created severe hardships for millions. Air conditioners and cooling systems have largely failed, and many households are struggling to access even cool drinking water.

The oppressive conditions have disrupted not only daily routines but also essential services and businesses.

Iraqis have turned to social media to express growing frustration over the government's failure to provide adequate electricity and heat relief. Fuel shortages have further exacerbated the electricity crisis, straining public patience.

The health and interior ministries have issued warnings, urging people to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and avoid direct sunlight.

Climate experts warn that such extreme temperatures are becoming increasingly common due to climate change, which is hitting Middle Eastern countries like Iraq with intensifying force. They are calling for urgent investment in water management, green infrastructure, and climate-resilient development.

As Iraq grapples with the rising heat, residents and experts alike are urging swift action to protect vulnerable communities and prepare for future climate shocks.
