This is the dramatic moment a schoolboy crashed his bicycle and fell under the wheels of a truck before being saved by quick-thinking locals.

The youngster had been pedalling through traffic when he slipped and slid into the path of a dump lorry in Gujarat, India, on August 3.

CCTV footage shows the child being pushed forward, with his damaged bicycle wedged between him and the front tyre.

Onlookers rushed to alert the driver and managed to pull the boy to safety just in time.

He escaped with only minor scratches from scraping against the concrete and his bicycle's metal frame is believed to have prevented the truck from crushing him under its week.

Police said the truck driver has been identified and an investigation has been launched.
