The attack caused extensive destruction, with injuries reported among bystanders due to shrapnel scattering hundreds of meters from the bombing site. After the attack, a Palestinian mother bid a heartbreaking farewell to her killed children at a hospital while holding a dead baby in a burial shroud. Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza's Civil Defense, said: "The Israeli occupation targeted a residential building inhabited by civilians in the Zeitoun neighborhood, with damage extending up to 600 meters. This child was martyred. The Israeli army is adopting a new policy in the Zeitoun area specifically—a policy of mass killing. We urge the world to take action." Medical sources in Gaza reported on Wednesday that the death toll in the enclave has risen to 61,158 since the start of the Israeli offensive on October 7, 2023, with the majority being children and women. The sources added that 151,442 people have been killed since the beginning of the aggression, while an unknown number of victims remain trapped under rubble, inaccessible to rescue teams. Over the past 24 hours, 138 people were killed—three of whom were recovered from debris—and 771 others were wounded and taken to hospitals across the Gaza Strip. Gaza’s hospitals also recorded five new deaths due to famine and malnutrition in the past day, bringing the total number of starvation-related fatalities to 193, including 96 children, according to medical officials. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen as aid deliveries remain severely restricted, exacerbating shortages of food, clean water, and medical supplies. Writing by Sibel Uygun
