VARIOUS OF BURNT HOMES, VEHICLES AND TREES KERATEA, GREECE - AUGUST 9, 2025: A large wildfire that erupted on Friday in Keratea, a town about 29 kilometers (18 miles) southeast of central Athens, has rendered some homes and vehicles unusable, Greek media reported. Drone footage taken on Saturday reveals extensive damage to houses, vehicles, and trees in parts of the town affected by the fire. The cause of the wildfire remains unknown. Firefighters continue cooling operations to prevent flare-ups. According to Greece’s public broadcaster ERT, an elderly man was found dead in his home, which was destroyed by the fire. The wildfire prompted evacuation orders for six areas in and around Keratea as authorities work to ensure residents’ safety.
