A pro-Palestine demonstration was held in Halkidiki, Greece on Sunday, Aug. 10, as part of nationwide events to support Palestine and highlight civilian casualties in Gaza.
Organized under the “Day of Action for Palestine” by the “March to Gaza” initiative, over 105 events took place simultaneously across Greece, including major cities and tourist destinations.
In Halkidiki, demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and carried banners reading “Stop the genocide” and “No more bloodshed in Gaza.” Protesters chanted slogans such as “Freedom for Palestine,” “End collaboration with Israel,” and “Solidarity is not a crime.”
On Friday, Israel’s Security Cabinet approved Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to fully occupy Gaza City, drawing sharp international backlash from governments and human rights bodies.
Israel has been facing mounting outrage over its deadly war on Gaza, where it has killed more than 61,000 people since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave and brought it to the verge of famine.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
