The incident occurred on Saturday evening near the intersection of Balboa and Senson boulevards around 5 p.m., where video footage showed water gushing into the street and debris floating in the roadway. According to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, a temporary connection at the pipe was established at the intersection. A pressure spike caused the disconnection of that connector. Crews planned to drain the pipe at 8 p.m. to prepare for cutting it on Sunday, and water to the pipe was subsequently shut off. Officials urged all residents to stop all tap water use immediately as repairs continued Saturday night.
