Italy - August 10, 2025 Early August 10th morning, a small lava flow began on Mount Etna, the volcano’s latest activity captured in initial footage by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV). The lava is currently spreading at high altitudes, starting from a fracture oriented north-northeast to south-southwest, located in the saddle between Bocca Nuova and the Southeast Crater. The flow is moving slowly toward the southwest. An INGV team promptly conducted an inspection to determine the lava flow’s exact position and size. They also collected samples directly from the lava for further study. This activity marks a new phase in Etna’s ongoing volcanic behavior, with scientists closely monitoring developments.
