Guwahati, India - July 22, 2025 Two brothers walked 3 kilometers along a rugged mountain trail, carrying their 200 kg (440 lbs) ailing cow on their backs. Their remarkable act of kindness and determination stood out as a powerful example of compassion and dedication toward a helpless animal. The incident took place in Kyari Village, Shillai subdivision, in Sirmaur district, in northern India's Himachal Pradesh, on July 22 . Visuals show that the sick cow is seen being carried on the shoulders by two brothers while climbing the mountain. Speaking to Newslions, Sneh Lata, Gram Panchayat Pradhan, Kyari Village, Shillai subdivision, Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, stated that in a remote village, a farmer's cow had fallen critically ill, with her condition deteriorating rapidly. Immediate medical attention was essential, but the nearest veterinary hospital was located 3 kilometers away. Recent heavy rains had severely damaged the mountainous route leading there. The road was strewn with debris and had become dangerously slippery, making it impossible for any vehicle to pass. The villagers, feeling helpless, feared that saving the cow might no longer be possible. Amid this distressing situation, two courageous villagers, Daya Ram and Lal Singh, stepped forward with a bold plan. Their decision stunned everyone, they resolved to carry the ailing cow on their backs all the way to the hospital. This was not only a display of sheer physical endurance but also a testament to their bravery and unshakable resolve. The cow, weighing over 200 kilograms, was carefully secured using ropes, and the duo began their risky journey through treacherous terrain. The rain-soaked trail posed danger at every turn. A single misstep could have led to disaster, but their minds were focused on one goal, saving the cow’s life. After several grueling hours, they finally reached the hospital. The cow received timely treatment, and thanks to their unwavering determination, her life was saved. Today, she has made a full recovery. The Panchayat head praised their heroic effort, noting that their village lies in one of Sirmaur’s most inaccessible regions, and such dedication in the face of adversity is truly admirable. Reflecting on the incident, Daya Ram said, "Gau Mata is sacred to us. Saving her was not an act of kindness, it was our responsibility."
