Air Canada flight attendants staged a protest outside Toronto Pearson Airport demanding fair pay and an end to unpaid work.

Footage shows workers holding signs as they rallied outside Terminal 1 on August 11.

They held signs that read: 'Poverty Wages = UnCanadian' and 'UnfAir Canada'.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees, which represents more than 10,000 attendants, has issued a 72-hour strike notice set to begin today, August 16.

Air Canada has responded with a lockout notice, cancelling flights and leaving thousands of passengers scrambling to change their travel plans.

Arielle Meloul-Wechsler, chief human resources officer at Air Canada, said on Thursday: 'We are still available to bargain at any time on the condition that the negotiation has substance.'
