Los Angeles, United States - August 19, 2025 08/19/2025 04:30 pm GMT-0700 Lancaster – Authorities have confirmed that a missing woman from Lancaster was found dead last week in the Angeles National Forest, and her husband is now wanted in connection with her death. On August 12, 2025, deputies at Lancaster Station received a report that Sheylla Cabrera, 33, was missing. The next day, investigators reviewed surveillance footage that showed her husband, Jossimar Cabrera, 36, dragging a large, wrapped object from their Palmdale apartment complex. Detectives immediately suspected foul play and called in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Search-and-rescue teams combed the Angeles National Forest, and on August 16, volunteers from the Montrose Mountain Search and Rescue team discovered an object matching the one seen on video. Investigators confirmed it contained human remains later identified as Sheylla Cabrera. That same day, authorities learned Jossimar Cabrera had fled to Peru, leaving behind the couple’s three young sons. The children were later found safe and placed in protective custody by Peruvian officials. The case has been forwarded to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for possible murder charges, and prosecutors are working with federal and international agencies to bring Jossimar Cabrera back to the United States.
