Activists re hang St George's Flags on Isle of Dogs after being removed by Tower Hamlets Council
St George's and Union flags have been re-hung on lampposts around the Isle of Dogs in Tower Hamlets after they were removed by council workers earlier this week. Late last night activists used ladders to hang the flags under the cover of darkness as part of "Operation Raise the Colours" which has seen campaigners across England raising St George's and Union flags in towns and cities. Activists on the Isle of Dogs have also painted St George’s crosses on Zebra crossings in the area. The Britannia International Hotel in Canary Wharf has attracted anti migrant protests in recent weeks after it began to house asylum seekers.
