United States - August 22, 2025 Kilauea volcano resumed its fury on Friday, August 22, unleashing an arc of lava that soared 100 feet into the air and spilled across the summit crater floor. This marks the 31st eruption since December, a frequency consistent with one of the most active volcanoes on Earth. In the morning, the north vent at the summit crater began sending out continuous bursts of molten rock. Hours later, the lava surged beyond the vent and spilled over. By afternoon, fountains of lava shot skyward, intensifying the spectacle and covering sections of the crater with fire and molten stone. Authorities confirmed that the eruption remained confined within the summit crater. No homes were under threat from the volcanic activity.
