STAFF MEMBERS OF INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF RED CROSSGAZA, PALESTINE - AUGUST 24: The Israeli military released 13 Palestinians it had held for months after detaining them in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian officials said on Sunday, Aug. 24. The detainees were transferred in vehicles operated by the International Committee of the Red Cross to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the central Gaza town of Deir al-Balah, where they underwent medical checks, according to hospital staff. Israel has killed over 62,600 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
