Milei and his sister, presidential advisor Karina Milei, were leading a campaign caravan to promote their slate of congressional candidates ahead of the upcoming elections when the incident occurred. The situation escalated after a group of opposition militants confronted the rally, chanting slogans and accusing the government of corruption linked to Argentina’s disability agency. Objects were thrown at the president’s vehicle, prompting his immediate evacuation under tight security. Congressional candidate and Milei ally José Luis Espert fled the area on a motorcycle, while the president and his sister were escorted to safety in a separate vehicle. Minor clashes later broke out between pro- and anti-government demonstrators in the area, according to local media reports.
