The 65,000-ton aircraft carrier, capable of deploying up to 36 F-35B jets, stands as the core of the British Carrier Strike Group. The visit is part of Operation HIGHMAST, the Royal Navy’s most ambitious deployment in a generation, spanning 26,000 nautical miles, engaging 40 nations, and mobilizing nearly 4,000 personnel. For the United Kingdom, this deployment demonstrates the “Global Britain” strategy in the Indo-Pacific and reinforces its partnership with Japan. For Tokyo, welcoming Britain’s flagship underscores its role as a security pillar in Asia and highlights allied interoperability in the face of regional tensions, particularly concerning China.
