Nepal: China donates medical equipment for better treatment for Nepali patients
China has donated medical equipment to a hospital in the capital city of Kathmandu, greatly helping to improve the treatment for Nepali patients with eye diseases. Patients of the Civil Service Hospital in Kathmandu have said they are now receiving much more efficient eye checkups after China sent a set of ophthalmic equipment and instruments to the China-Nepal "Lifeline Express" Center of Cooperation for the Prevention of Blindness housed at the hospital. The China-Nepal "Lifeline Express" Center of Cooperation for the Prevention of Blindness was established in the hospital in March of this year as part of China's medical cooperation with members and partners of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Nepal is now a dialogue partner of the SCO. China announced in 2022 to provide 2,000 free cataract surgeries to patients in SCO countries over the next three years. Doctors in the Civil Service Hospital in Kathmandu have said the Chinese donations have effectively improved their work efficiency in treating patients suffering diseases like cataract and glaucoma.
