3. BUILDING BEING DEMOLISHED WITH HEAVY MACHINERY RAMALLAH, WEST BANK, PALESTINE - SEPTEMBER 01: Israeli forces demolished a Palestinian house and an agricultural facility in the occupied West Bank on Monday, September 1, citing a lack of permits.
According to witnesses, the demolitions took place in Sakba village west of Ramallah and in Nabi Ilyas village near Qalqilya. Israeli forces raided Sakba and destroyed a single-story house on grounds it was built without a permit in Area C.
Local sources said bulldozers also demolished concrete walls surrounding agricultural land in Nabi Ilyas on the same claim.
Israeli authorities frequently demolish Palestinian structures in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, alleging they were built without permits. Rights groups say it is nearly impossible for Palestinians to obtain such permits in Area C, which is under full Israeli control.
The West Bank was divided into Areas A, B and C under the 1995 Oslo II Accord, with Area C making up about 61 percent of the territory.
Since Israel launched its assault on Gaza on October 7, 2023, arrests, raids and attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem have also increased.
