Topping the list are historical genre "Dead To Rights" and animation "Nobody". From historical dramas to animations and comedies, each film has found its target audience and achieved strong earnings." [Sound_bite] Moviegoer: "There are many choices this year with all types of genres rather than a single type." [Sound_bite] Moviegoer: "There are many genres this summer to fit demand of all types of audiences." [Voice_over] In Shanghai, this theater's box office earnings ranks first during the summer holiday. It held eight film road shows during the holiday. The historical genre Dongji Rescue, for example, broke the road show box office earnings in Shanghai. All that success prompted the use of tie-in activities. [Sound_bite] Zhang Yan, Assistant General Manager, Shanghai Film Art Center: "We've made some stamps, postcards and posters of some popular movies to fans. This has driven up retails sales of related movies." [Voice_over] The popularity of some films has driven up other related-economies. For example, the craze for the animation "Nobody" has driven up demand for derivative products. Over 200 types have been launched. Box office earnings, as experts believe, mean far more than to just the film industry itself. [Sound_bite] Sun Jiashan, Researcher, Central Academy of Culture and Tourism Administration: "In fact, from the Spring Festival to summer holiday, we have witnessed that our Chinese films have taken the lead in sounding the clarion call for film recovery on a global scale. The box office of the film is not limited to the film industry, and the box office of the film has a driving role that cannot be ignored for our entire economic and social development." [Voice_over] That driving role has also affected the stock market. For example, between June and August, China Film Group and Omnijoi Media Corporation, the two entertainment firms which invested in "Dead To Rights", saw double-digit growth in their share prices.
