Boy with cerebral palsy lights up as stranger takes him for a spin on the ice
This is the moment a boy with cerebral palsy lit up when a stranger took him for a spin on the ice.
Bleu Greenwood, 10, has a severe form of cerebral palsy - stage five quadriplegic - which, his mum Rielle Chapple, 33, says affects "every aspect of his life." "
He also has epilepsy, severe tracheomalacia and bronchomalacia and relies on ventilation to keep his airways open.
After spending six months on life support earlier this year, Rielle and her family decided to take Bleu ice skating.
When the family arrived at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham on Sunday 24 August, an "excited" Bleu was approached by a stranger who offered to take him for a spin on the rink."
Tyler, a hockey player, carefully guided Bleu's wheelchair across the ice while the boy beamed with joy and his "overwhelmed" mum cheered from the sidelines."
Rielle, from Leicester, Leicestershire, said: "Bleu was very excited to go ice skating as it's not something he gets to normally do in his life."
"He gave the man a big smile when he grabbed onto his wheelchair to whizz him off."
"It was the way Tyler was able to whizz bleu around the ice making him laugh and so happy but also feeling safe and stable."
"It was special that Bleu was able to have all his close family in one place, all having fun together somewhere Bleu was able to be involved."
"As a mother I felt so happy to be able to watch my son smile and laugh with joy. "
"All I have ever wanted for Bleu was for him to be included in fun activities for his age and I felt very overwhelmed to watch this happen."
