China: Chinese liquor distillery brews tourism success with interactive tours
Storyline: Chinese liquor distillery brews tourism success with interactive tours [Voice_over] Over the years, the Langjiu Estate liquor distillery in southwest China's Erlang Town, has transformed its brewing and fermentation facilities into an interactive tourist destination attracting tens of thousands of people annually. Nestled along the Chishui River, the sprawling facility produces Baijiu, a sorghum based clear liquor characterized by its flavor profile. In this case, soy-sauce flavored Baijiu, which is known for its lingering aftertaste and strong aroma. Visitors can observe each step of the ancient brewing and fermentation process with some steps, interactive. [Sound_bite] Tourist: "I'm from Guangzhou and have been here for four days. The Baijiu culture has left a deep impression on us." [Voice_over] Elsewhere on the Estate grounds, tens of thousands of ceramic jars are used for another step of the fermentation process. Due to their microporous nature, the jars create chemical-reactions in the liquor that deepen its flavor profile. One of the final processes includes storing the liquor filled ceramic jars inside damp caves, where moss grows on the sides of the containers to give the drink still more flavor depth. The Estate is well known for its design and architecture, which incorporates the surrounding natural landscapes. In 2021 the estate's renovation project was recognized by The Chicago Atheneum and The European Center for Architecture, Art Design and Urban Studies. [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
