Lavi, Israel - May 18, 2024 Hezbollah launched an explosive drone that struck the Israeli surveillance balloon known as 'Tal Shamayim'—or 'Dew of the Sky'—near the Golani Junction, deep inside Israeli territory. The aerostat, part of a cutting-edge radar system developed jointly by Israel and the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, is designed to detect and provide early warning of aerial threats originating from Lebanon and Syria, including drones, cruise missiles, and long-range rockets. The attack marked one of Hezbollah’s deepest strikes into Israel during the conflict. Despite the direct hit, the IDF confirmed that the system’s operational capabilities remained intact and no casualties were reported. The video was released to the public after receiving approval from the Israeli military censor.
