Extinction Rebellion protesters disrupted activities at the CBS News headquarters, criticising the network's perceived support for President Donald Trump and the agenda outlined in Project 2025.

Nine activists stood arm-in-arm in front of Paramount Global's lobby escalators, holding a large ‘Rebel or Die' banner and setting off smoke flares while chanting slogans including, ‘CBS sells lies – people die!'

The protest took place in New York as CBS executives are reportedly exploring the possibility of selling the network to billionaire Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle and an ally of Trump.

Footage shows officers escorting the arrested protesters from the building on September 10.

The group said in a statement: 'CBS is not just failing the public; it is actively collaborating with forces dismantling civic society. By platforming fossil fuel lobbyists, Trump surrogates, and cancelling popular shows, the network has signalled to the Trump administration that it is a willing partner in reshaping American media to serve authoritarian power.

'Project 2025, the conservative blueprint for Trump's second term, outlines plans to seize control of federal agencies, roll back climate protections, and weaponise state power against dissent. Central to its strategy is a compliant media landscape - one CBS appears eager to provide.'

Followers of the climate agenda have resorted to increasingly aggressive public attacks in recent years - often using violence and intimidation to cause chaos on roads, at events and in art galleries.

The Oxford Languages dictionary defines a terrorist as 'a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims'.
