ARKHANGELSK OBLAST, RUSSIA (RELEASED ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2025) (USERS MUST CREDIT “RUSSIAN DEFENSE MINISTRY" HANDOUT, MUST NOT OBSCURE LOGO — EDITORIAL USE ONLY) A Russian Soyuz-2.1b rocket successfully delivered a spacecraft for the Ministry of Defense and a research-training satellite into orbit on Saturday, Sept. 13, the Defense Ministry announced.

The launch was conducted by the combat crew of the Aerospace Forces (VKS) from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk Region.

According to a statement from the Defense Ministry, the launch and placement of the spacecraft into their designated orbit proceeded on schedule.

"The launch of the carrier rocket and the placement of the spacecraft into the designated orbit proceeded as planned," the ministry said.

Following the liftoff, the Soyuz-2.1b medium-class carrier rocket was tracked by the ground-based automated control complex of the German Titov Main Test Space Center.

The satellites have been assigned the official serial numbers "Cosmos-2595" and "Cosmos-2596."

One of the payloads, the research-training spacecraft "Mozhaets-6," was developed by cadets of the Mozhaisky Military Space Academy. It is designed for testing astronavigation algorithms. The other spacecraft is designated for the Russian Ministry of Defense.
