VARIOUS OF PEOPLE GIVING SPEECH TO PRESS (Arabic)BEIRUT, LEBANON - SEPT. 17, 2025: Lebanese citizens marched along the Beirut coast to mark the first anniversary of the September 2024 call device explosions targeting thousands of Hezbollah members. Initiated by a group of journalists and media members under the slogan “National Day” and joined by dozens of participants, the march began at Ayn el-Merisse and proceeded along Beirut's coastal strip to Manara. The event, featuring Hezbollah flags and chants such as “Humiliation is far from us,” symbolized solidarity with victims and signaled ongoing political tension after the explosions. On September 17, 2024, call devices used by Hezbollah members detonated across Lebanon, followed the next day by explosions in radios used by the group. These blasts killed 37 people and injured more than 3,000. A ceasefire was reached in November 2024 following an exchange of cross-border attacks between the Hezbollah group and Israel since October 2023. The exchange escalated into a full-scale Israeli war by September 2024, killing more than 4,000 people and injuring around 17,000. Under the truce, Israel was supposed to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by January, but it only partially pulled out troops and maintains a military presence at five border outposts.
