DNIPROPETROVSK, UKRAINE - SEPT. 20 - RESTRICTION: USERS MUST CREDIT “DNIPROPETROVSK REGIONAL MILITARY ADMINISTRATION” HANDOUT, MUST NOT OBSCURE LOGO —EDITORIAL USE ONLY— A Russian missile and drone attack struck the city of Dnipro and surrounding areas on Saturday, Sept. 20, killing one person and injuring 30 others, local authorities said.
The strikes sparked several fires in the city and the Dnipro district, damaging dozens of apartment buildings, private homes, outbuildings, and garages. Eight educational institutions were also hit, and multiple enterprises sustained varying levels of destruction, officials reported.
Russia launched its “special military operation” in Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, claiming it was aimed at protecting people in the eastern region. Since then, millions have been displaced, thousands have lost their homes and hundreds of medical and educational institutions have been destroyed.
